Live Ramadan With The Quran
Muslims around the world fast during the Month of Ramadan as it is an obligatory deed. It is the way of celebrating the revelation of the Holy Quran in this month. This Holy Month reminds us of our main objective of life and guidance of the Holy Quran.
In the Month of Ramadan Muslims not only fast but also practice patience, taqwa, self-improvement, self-discipline, and beautify their character by acting upon the teaching of the Quran and the Sunnah. They practice fasting and spread the foods, sadaqah, and zakat to the needy to understand the worth of the blessings and share them with the deserving.
Ramadan marked the revelation of -the Powerful Book- the Holy Quran.
“The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion”.
Revelation Of Quran In Ramadan
The darkened world, full of oppression, sins, and social decadence observed the revelation of the powerful book in 609 A.D. This powerful book was revealed in the month of Ramadan at “Night of Power” which is famously known as Lailat Al-Qadr. The night that is better than thousand months.
Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
(Chapter 97, verses 1-5)
It was the night that turned the history of the world and initiated a new era of guidance. The holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the age of 40. It was revealed gradually in different parts over the period of 23 years. Starting portion was revealed in Makkah whereas, after the migration to Madinah, the later portion was revealed in Madinah.
The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to sit in seclusion and do worship in the cave of Hira. In Ramadan, the Angel Gabriel brought the first five verses of Surah Alaq, chapter 96 to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the cave of Hira.
Recite in the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clinging substance. Recite, and your Lord is the Most Generous -Who taught by the pen. Taught man that which he knew not.
(Chapter 96, verses 1-5)
The True Definition Of The Quran
You will see many definitions of the Quran over the internet but Allah has introduced the Quran with the help of Quranic verses. The most common mistake we do is that we try to understand the Quran through different mediums but do not focus on the Quran. The Quran answers every question regarding its identity, revelation, messenger, sender, etc.
Allah says in the Holy Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 2:
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah
This introduces the Quran from one angle but Allah (SWT) has introduced the Quran with a deep description in Surah Ash-Shura. The next question arises,
Whose Book Is It?
Allah says in the Holy Quran, Surah Ash-Shu’ara, verse 192:
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
Whether you accept it or not. It is of no doubt that this is the book, orders, and messages of the lord of the entire world:
Who Brought The Quran In Ramadan?
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ
The Trustworthy Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down
(Surah Ash-Shu’ara, verse 193)
“Trustworthy Spirit” is the title of Hazrat Gabriel (A.S). He used to come to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to reveal different parts of the Quran as ordered by Allah (SWT).
To Whom & Why Quran Was Revealed In Ramadan?
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ
Upon your heart, [O Muḥammad] – that you may be of the warners –
(Surah Ash-Shu’ara, verse 194)
Quran was revealed to the last Prophet- Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It was revealed as a guide so the messenger of Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) can warn people and guide them toward the true path- the path of Allah.
This verse highlights that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) so he can become a warner. Allah gave him the authority to guide his people to the right way that leads towards paradise and condemn them for the acts that lead toward hell.
Ma Sha Allah, how beautifully the Quran answers every question. The Quran is the guide of life. The Holy Quran is the leader. Don’t misguide yourself by believing the theories of humans who are merely the creation of the Lord. Humans are the creation of Allah while the Holy Quran stores the words of Allah itself.
Find your identity, your true path, your motivation, your intention, and everything you need to live on this earth through the Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a true example of living through the Quran.

And when My servants ask you, [O Muḥammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.
