What It Is Ijazah In Quran | How To Get Ijazah In Tajweed Quran | Ijazah Certificate

When it comes to Islamic topics, we hear a lot of Arabic words that sound familiar because we – or others around us – use them all the time, and we might even be able to translate these into our native language, but when someone asks “So, what exactly is that?” , We are unable to reply, other than to repeat the translation, hoping to shed some light! The word vacation is a really good example. So let’s dive in, shall we?

What Does Ijazah Mean

When we are trying to understand something, even a word that is commonly used and heard, it is always helpful to look at the meaning of the word itself. The Arabic word إِجَازَة [ijaazah] comes from the root letters ج و ز from which we derive the following meanings:

  • To be allowed, permitted, permissible.
  • To permit, to allow, to sanction, to authorize.

The word “licence” is generally translated as “licence”, “certificate” or “authorization” which gives permission – and even the right – to the holder to impart their knowledge to a particular text or subject they have studied. The degree is given by someone who already possesses and masters this knowledge and is therefore in a position to pass it on to another person, who has taught the student (recipient of the Ijazah) directly, usually through direct teaching (no third-parties or unspecified giver of Ijazah!).

What Is Ijazah In Quran

Ijaza (in Arabic: ijazah) is a certificate used primarily by Sunni Muslims to indicate that a person has been authorized by someone with the same ijazah certificate to teach the Holy Qur’an.

Quran Ijazah Meaning

Ijazah al-Quran or Ijazah means “permission” in Arabic. It is called a certificate of authorization because it allows the holder to teach the Qur’an and to award the same certificate to qualified learners.

Prophet PBUH who said:

“Take the Qur’an from four: Ibn Masoud, Abu Ibn Ka’b, Mu’adh bin Jabal, and Salem Mawla Abu Hudhaifa”.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wanted to advise you of what will happen after his death based on the success of these four and their potential in the teachings of the Qur’an, and that they are more fortunate than others in this. This is the meaning of leave in essence, even if it is not mentioned literally.

The term “Ijazah” did not appear until the third century AH, when scholars would travel for months to certain references (sheikhs), especially the oldest and most respected ones, to hear the Qur’an from their mouths and receive them. Permission to transfer from their names.

This series continues to this day. Students of the Qur’an seek approval from qualified sheikhs that they have mastered what they have learned and are now allowed to pass it on to others.

Importance of Ijazah In Quran Recitation or Memorization

Nowadays, many Muslims are studying Tajweed (the rules of recitation) and working to memorize the Qur’an, Masha’Allah! Whether done individually, at a local mosque or Islamic school, or with an online teacher, we all know the importance of increasing our knowledge of the Qur’an, and this includes being able to read it correctly, as errors in pronunciation can change the meaning of the words of God Almighty, And carry it in our hearts by means of preservation.

But we all know the famous hadith narrated by Uthman, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: “The best of you is he who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.”

What is knowledge if it is not shared, imparted, or taught to others, even if it is only for our family members (which is actually the best place to start!)?

Obtaining the Ijazah is a necessary step in ensuring that the knowledge of the Qur’an is transmitted correctly and accurately.
