Why Is Ramadan Called The Month Of The Quran?
Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan at “Night of Power” which is famously known as Lailat Al-Qadr. The night that is better than thousand months.
“Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn”. (Chapter 97, verses 1-5)
It was the night that turned the history of the world and initiated a new era of guidance. The holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad in Ramadan, the Angel Gabriel brought the first five verses of Surah Alaq, chapter 96 to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the cave of Hira.
“Recite in the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clinging substance. Recite, and your Lord is the Most Generous -Who taught by the pen. Taught man that which he knew not”. (Chapter 96, verses 1-5)
