In Islam, the evil eye (al-‘ayn) is real. It comes from jealousy or extreme admiration. When someone looks with envy or praise without saying MashAllah, it may harm the other person. This harm can affect health, wealth, beauty, or happiness. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned that the evil eye has serious effects and advised the Ummah to seek protection from it as confirmed in Sahih Muslim 2188:
“The evil eye is real. If anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye…”
The best dua to protect from the evil eye is: “A’udhu bi kalimatillahi tammati min sharri ma khalaq.” We will break down its meaning and more here. In addition, there are many ways to stay safe from the evil eye. You can recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas. Daily duas and Ruqyah (spiritual protection) are also helpful. Islam gives clear steps to protect yourself and others.
Here are the most powerful and authentic duas and verses for protection. Each includes Arabic, transliteration, English meaning, and how to use it properly.

Which Surah Protects from Evil Eye?
The strongest protection comes from reciting Al-Mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas). These final two short chapters call on Allah to guard against all harm, including envy and the evil eye. The Prophet ﷺ taught to blow on oneself after reciting them to secure protection. Many believers recite them three times each morning and evening as a shield.
These surahs act like spiritual armor. When combined with Ayat al-Kursi and specific duas, they form a full protective routine. Their simplicity, brevity, and profound meaning make them easy to use daily. This approach is trusted, time-tested, and rooted in authentic Sunnah, ensuring protection across all areas of life.
How to Use Ayat-Al-Kursi for Protection from Evil Eye?
1. Recite After Each Fajr and Maghrib Prayer
Say out loud, with calm focus. Reflect on Allah’s protection.
2. Morning & Evening Routine
Recite Ayat al-Kursi once each time, after the dua for entering/exiting home. Repeat it at least two times.
3. Use in Ruqyah
If someone fears they are affected by evil eye, recite Ayat al-Kursi over them gently. Blow lightly onto their forehead or chest. This follows the practice of the Prophet ﷺ who used it in ruqyah.
This guidance is clear, simple, and easy to follow daily. Consistency is key. Pairing Ayat al-Kursi with other duas maximizes protection.
Final Words

Regularly reciting these duas, especially Ayat al-Kursi, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas, keeps us spiritually guarded. These simple supplications carry deep strength and meaning.
