Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said,
“When Allah created the creations, He wrote with Him on His Throne: ‘My Mercy has preceded My Anger.”
The Qur’an instructs Muslims who have wronged themselves to repent, seek Allah’s pardon, and offer a true tawbah. It promises that if people accomplish this, God will forgive them and absolve them of their wrongdoings:

Benefits Of Istighfar!
Now that we understand the significance of Istighfar, let us look at some of the qualities and advantages of saying the simple and beautiful prayer “Astaghfirullah.”
Adherence to and execution of God’s control
Seek forgiveness with God! Certainly, God is Ever-Forgiving [and] Merciful.”
Protection from divine wrath:
وَما كانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
“God will not punish them while they seek [God’s] forgiveness.”
God’s Mercy and Blessings:
وا اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاء عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَللَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا “
Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Ever-Forgiving. He will send rain to you in abundance, increase you in wealth, children, orchards, and rivers.”
Allah says in Holy Quran:
“But not is (for) Allah that He punishes them while you (are) among them, and not is Allah the One Who punishes them while they seek forgiveness.”
And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
(Surah An-Nisa 4:110)
Allah is Ar-Rahman, the Most Compassionate, and Ar-Raheem, the Most Merciful. He loves that we ask Him for forgiveness and He has promised to forgive. As a result, we might state that Istighfar unlocks the mercy door. I heard Allah’s Apostle say, said Abu Huraira. “Allah pleased! More than 70 times a day, I ask Allah for forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance.”
Sayyid Ul Istighfar
There are various advantages. Allah (SWT) would forgive all of the sins of anybody who makes it a practice to say Sayyidul Istighfar once a day, preferably after every prayer. His heart would be delighted with Allah’s devotion if he recites Sayyidul Istighfar with a heart attracted to good acts.
“O Allah, you are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me. And I am your servant. And I stand by your covenant and promise. I seek refuge in You, according to my power, from my iniquities. And I confess your blessings and confess my sins. So forgive me my sins. Verily, no one forgives sins except You.”
Ye Log unka badla unke rabb ke haan se bakhshish hai aur baagh hai jinke neeche nehre behti hongi un baghon mein hamesha rahne wale honge aur kam karne walon ki kaisi achhi mazdoori hai.
(Surah Al-Imran, Verse:136)
Repentance is a mercy door that allows you to turn back to the correct path. Staying away from misdoings and deviations is a conscious human choice. Every Muslim is required by Allah to repent, and our last Prophet, Muhammad PBUH, used to recite Astaghfar 70 times a day.
“And beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. “
(SUrah Noor, Verse 31)
“Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace. But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).”
(Surah Hood, Verse 3).
Purpose Of Istighfar
“Istighfar” refers to praying to Allah for protection from the harmful effects and harmful effects of the supplicant’s trespasses and faults, both in this life and in the next.
“Glad tidings to those who have excessive ‘seeking forgiveness’ in the record of their deeds.”
Allah Almighty would pardon a person who does Istighfar regularly. People who consistently perform Istighfar will not be punished by Allah. All that counts in a Muslim’s life is gaining Allah’s pleasure. Sins are one of the factors that prevent us from obtaining Allah’s pleasure. That’s when istighfar enters the picture. Allah (SWT) would forgive all of a person’s sins if he gets it a practice to say Sayyidul Istighfar once a day, preferably after each prayer.
His heart would be delighted with Allah’s devotion if he recites Sayyidul Istighfar with a good heart predisposed to good acts. Tawba is the act of returning from disobedience to obedience to Allah. Success occurs when a person obtains what he seeks and is rescued from the situation from which he is fleeing. Allah forgives sins no matter how strong or how many they are when they are confessed with true repentance.
Narrated from Abu Huraira: He says that I have heard from the Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH),
“I swear in Allah that I turn to him in repentance and seek forgiveness from him on daily basis more than seventy 70 times”.
Tawba (Arabic: توبة) is the Islamic principle of repenting to God for any sins or wrongdoings committed. There is no intercession since it is a direct relationship between a person and God. In Islam, there is no inherent sin.
Tawbah is a form of worship in which one returns to Allah after doing something wrong. You know, Allah’s Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) told us that He, the Most Merciful, would forgive us for whatever sin we do if we would stop doing it.

What happens when you do Tawbah?
The literal meaning of the Arabic word Tawbah is “to return” and is repeated in the Qur’an and hadith (sayings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad). In the context of Islam, it means to turn or to retreat from past sinful and evil activities, and to firmly resolve to abstain from them in the future.
For those believers who have wronged themselves, the Qur’an asks them to become repentant, seek Allah’s forgiveness, and make a sincere Tawbah. It assures them that if they do this, God will forgive them, and exonerate them from their misdeeds:
The act of requesting Allah’s mercy, also defined as Astaghfirullah, is termed Istighfar. We implore Almighty Allah for pardon by reciting the Arabic phrases Astaghfirullah, which means “I seek Allah’s forgiveness.” Istighfar means to get power from Allah to avoid sin and evil, as well as to be able to demonstrate this power. In obedience and repentance, we should always seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah, as He is the Most Merciful. [Al-Isra 17:25].
